Introduction : des origines et de la nécessité de la recherche-création

Apparue dans les interstices des frontières entre sciences, arts et technologie, la recherche-création a progressivement créé son propre territoire, un espace qui a permis à l’interdisciplinarité d’acquérir droit de cité. Elle s’est constituée en domaine à part entière au tournant du 21e siècle avec l’émergence des premiers organismes spécifiquement dédies à son développement, à sa diffusion et à son financement. Par bifurcations progressives, elle s’est progressivement distinguée des démarches de type arts-sciences qui produisent des oeuvres de haut niveau, mais dans lesquelles la rencontre entre disciplines se limite fréquemment à une relation ancillaire, instrumentale ou opérationnelle, au détriment d’une intégration réelle. Dans cet article, nous discutons du potentiel de la recherche-création comme lieu de production de connaissances par le biais de l’intuition, de l’expérience et de la sensibilité, et proposons, par un recentrage poétique et phénoménologique de notre relation au monde, de la poser comme une alternative à la perte du sens et de la maîtrise des savoirs causée par la technologisation accrue de nos cadres de vie.

Born in the interstices between science, art and technology, research-creation has gradually created its own territory — a space that has granted interdisciplinarity the right of citizenship. It became an autonomous field at the turn of the 21st century, with the emergence of the first institutions specifically devoted to its development, dissemination and funding. Through successive bifurcations, it progressively distinguished itself from art–science practices, which, though producing high-level works of high calibre, too often reduce the encounter between disciplines to an ancillary or operational relationship, at the expense of genuine integration. In this article, we explore the potential of research-creation as a site for the production of knowledge through intuition, experience and sensibility. We propose, through a poetic and phenomenological re-centring of our relation to the world, to consider it as an alternative to the loss of meaning and mastery of knowledge brought about by the ever-increasing technologization of our living environments.
